Jennifer Davis, 64, of Knox died in her home on Wednesday following an ALS diagnosis.

Davis was born in Logansport, but became a 1970 graduate of North Judson – San Pierre High School. She later pursued a degree in Marketing from St. Joseph’s College in Rennsselaer.

Throughout her life, Davis was employed by the Lindenwood Retreat Center at the Center at Donaldson and Starke Memorial Hospital. Most recently, she was a writer for Creative Insight advertising agency in Michigan City and a marketing director for Physician’s Hospital in Mishawaka.

Davis also served a full term and a partial term as a representative on the Starke County Council. She also went onto serve a term as a Starke County Commissioner.

Davis’ involvement extended well beyond the public arena. She was considered instrumental in organizing the Prairie Fire Children’s Theater Workshop and served on the board of the Broadway Theater League in South Bend.

She was also the director of the Starke County Fine Arts Commission and served on the board of the Indiana Arts Council. Davis was, at one time, the director of the Starke County Chamber of Commerce and was considered a leader in the establishment of the Starke County WIC program.

Davis was also noted for writing a grant to the Oprah Winfrey Foundation that netted youth in need in Starke County 100 pairs of shoes.

In a statement, friends of the family say she was always more pleased with her friend’s success and recognition than her own.
