Eastern Pulaski Schools Prepare for Budget Adoption

The Eastern Pulaski School Board will be looking to adopt its 2017 budget when it meets in special session tonight.

According to the advance agenda, the school board will likely approve a capital projects plan, bus replacement plan, and neutrality resolution. Each of those areas designates funding levels for projects and vehicle maintenance over the coming year. Adoption resolutions to supplement the budget help the school corporation with planning and signal to the public how property tax dollars will be used.

Eastern Pulaski’s budget has been advertised over the past several weeks before heading to adoption on Monday night. Budgets must be approved by the school board prior to heading to the Department of Local Government Finance for final adoption.

The DLGF often makes recommendations and additional cuts if the department does not feel specific capital projects are needed, or if planned spending is not in line with revenue estimates.

Anticipating some alterations by the DLGF, the Eastern Pulaski School Board will also give its superintendent the authority to amend the school corporation’s budget depending on those recommendations.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. EDT at the Eastern Pulaski Conference and Meeting Room.
