A Democrat state senator out of LaPorte has been honored once again by a group supporting airports across the state.

Aviation Indiana has selected Jim Arnold as its Senator of the Year. The LaPorte representative was honored at the group’s annual conference in Michigan City on Wednesday of last week.

According to a press release, Arnold was awarded for his consistent support of airports and recognizing their contributions to economic development strategies. Specifically this year, Arnold co-sponsored a bill that allows aviation boards to meet electronically rather than in person. This is said to speed up the process of improving airports throughout the Hoosier state. It went into effect on July 1st of this year.

This is the second time Arnold has been honored by the group. Again in 2011. In his past, Arnold served an air traffic controller in the United States Air Force.
