Man Found in LaPorte County Murdered, Suspect in Custody

Authorities say the man whose body was found Friday at Kingsbury Fish & Wildlife Area in LaPorte County was murdered, and they’ve got a suspect in custody.

A forensic autopsy performed Monday indicates 41-year-old Mark Huber of Goshen died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death was a homicide.

Investigators from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, DNR and Goshen Police Department determined Huber was killed in Goshen and say his body was transported to the Kingsbury Fish & Wildlife Area and concealed in a sewer line that was accessible via manhole cover. A Kingsbury Utility Corporation employee found Huber’s body Friday while performing a routine weekly maintenance check.

Authorities in Elkhart County have charged Scott Irvin with murder in connection with Huber’s death following an investigation by the Goshen Police.

LaPorte County Sheriff John Boyd praised the efforts of all involved in the investigation to resolve it quickly and noted they worked through a holiday weekend when most people were enjoying the company of family and friends.
