Ancilla Sees Opportunities for Agriculture Students

Ancilla College’s first group of Agriculture students are set to graduate this spring.

Agriculture Program Director Tim McLochlin says Ancilla takes advantage of their associated 1,100-acre farm to let the students get hands-on experience. Students of the program are offered a variety of course options in Animal Science, Crop Science, Economics, Business Management, and more. The Agriculture program also recognizes the vast change of technology in the agriculture field, and train their students in GPS, precision, and environmental technology.

McLochlin has a good amount of confidence in the graduating students, as the current unemployment rate for the agriculture field is at 1.8-percent right now. “There are jobs for these students when they graduate, and that’s what’s exciting,” stated McLochlin.

McLochlin also spoke about the growing success of collaborations with other college programs, such as Purdue University.
