Hamlet Council Reorganizes, Recognizes Former Member

The Hamlet Town Council reorganized for 2017 Wednesday. Dave Kesvormas was reappointed council president. Town Marshal Clint Norem, Street Superintendent Fred Rowe, Water and Wastewater Operator Henry Ruiz, and Town Attorney Martin Bedrock are all keeping their positions for another year.

Council member Brian Earnest will represent Hamlet on the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission, and council member Connie Bailey will serve on the Starke County Economic Development Foundation Board of Directors. During Wednesday’s meeting, council members also approved a few transfers to close out the 2016 budget.

The town council also recognized former council member John Goble, who passed away this week at the age of 53. “He did two terms on the town board,” noted Kesvormas. “He worked as street superintendent. He served on the fire department.”

Funeral services are this afternoon at 2:00 at the Rannells Funeral Home Hamlet Chapel, with visitation there from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
