Hamlet Recognizes Police Department Christmas Tree Decorating Contest Winners

The Hamlet Police Department is taking steps to improve its relationship with the town’s young people.

Last month, Hamlet children were invited to decorate a Christmas tree outside the town hall. In return, they were entered into a drawing to receive one of 10 gift cards supplied by the town.

Town Marshal Clint Norem recognized the ten winners before last week’s town council meeting. “So again, we want to thank you guys,” Norem said. “I mean, this was something we just tried. And I was glad the people that got involved did because I was starting to seat a little bit, but it turned out really nice.”

The contest served as a way for Norem to introduce himself to residents, after he was appointed town marshal last fall. He’s already planning to bring the contest back again next year.
