Planning Underway for 2017 Downtown Knox Events

The City of Knox fireworks display will once again take place in Wythogan Park this year.

Plans are already in the works for several community events in downtown Knox this year. Last year saw the introduction of a cruise night in Wythogan Park. Mayor Dennis Estok says this year’s event will be even bigger.

The May 27th event will be expanded to include motorcycles and well as cars and trucks. The splash pad will open for the season that day, which is also the tentative dedication day for the new performance stage in the park. Estok says at least one band will perform as part of the day of festivities.

The annual City of Knox fireworks display will also be at Wythogan Park again this year. Estok says it’s the city’s signature event, and he hopes to build on last year’s success and make it an event for residents from Knox and surrounding communities to really enjoy.

The Peppermint Parade also returned to downtown Knox last year. Estok says the committee that put it on got quite a few recommendations but ran out of time to act on the mall. He promises a lot more activities surrounding this year’s parade.
