Pulaski County Commissioners Move Toward County Home Sale

Pleasant View Rest Home

Pulaski County officials are close to deciding how to dispose of the former Pleasant View Rest Home. CDC Executive Director Nathan P. Origer says the property has been split into two parcels to separate the actual home from the barn and REACT building, which are still used by the county. However, the new deeds reflecting the split have not yet been recorded.

The county home, as it is commonly known, closed in 2015 after the county council cut its operating budget.

Origer told the commissioners Tuesday morning one person has expressed interest in the property but wants the entire thing. He’s not sure if only buying the house would be a “deal breaker” for the prospective buyer.

The property was previously advertised in the Indiana Preservationist publication. County attorney Kevin Tankersley advised the county can offer it for sale in a number of ways, including listing it with a realtor, soliciting sealed bids or conducting a live auction.

The commissioners agreed to let Tankersley get the process started to hire a realtor to manage the listing. Their proposal also requires approval from the county council.
