Culver Receives Grant for Public Fishing Project

The Town of Culver is the recipient of a Marshall County Community Foundation grant to help fund an opportunity for residents to participate in public fishing.

Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the Culver Town Council members this week that a platform will be installed at the end of a pier for public fishing.

Leist said the quote for the platform was from North Shore Fabrication and the contractor would like to get the materials ordered and start on construction. Leist explained that the grant agreement has not been signed and funding from the grant is not expected to be released until next week. He asked the council to go ahead and approve spending the money to get the project started.

The council approved spending the town’s cost of $1,200 and the anticipated grant funds of $10,800. The grant portion will be reimbursed to the town once the signing event happens next week.
