La Porte Police Investigating Robberies

Two overnight robberies have La Porte Police searching for answers.

The first incident occurred at 2:25 a.m. on Monday when an armed robbery occurred at the Citgo gas station on Lincolnway in La Porte. A preliminary investigation found that two African American men entered the business, demanded money and brandished guns. Police say the clerk complied with the suspect’s request and they left with an undetermined amount of money. The only available description is that they wore a mask to cover their faces.

About a half hour later, La Porte Police were notified of a home invasion in the 1400 block of Jefferson Avenue. Video evidence of the area suggests that three African American men entered the home through a window and exited a door. According to police, the suspects appear to be in their late teens or early 20s and at least two of them were armed with handguns. Police believe that food was stolen from the residence. The suspects left the area on foot.

Anyone with information about these crimes are encouraged to contact La Porte Police Detective Corporal, Brett Airy, at (219) 362-9446, Ext. 205, or La Porte Police Detective, Nate Thode, at (219) 362-9446.
