Starke County Park Board Now Eligible for DNR Grants, Plans Signage for County Forest

The Starke County Park Board can now apply for grant funding from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Park Board President Debbie Mix has received notification that the DNR has accepted the board’s five-year plan. That means Starke County is now eligible for grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Mix says the park board plans to start working on some of the projects outlined in the new plan. One of the county’s major park facilities, the Starke County Forest, currently has no signage to direct potential visitors to the site. The park board plans to work with County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler to install about five signs on County Line Road and State Road 23.
