Home Damaged in LaPorte County, Following Suspected DUI Crash

A man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly crashing a Chevrolet Trailblazer into a LaPorte County home the dui lawyer is already working with him to guide him. Officers with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 4000 block of North U.S. 35, north of LaPorte, shortly after 6:00 a.m.

Police believe Lincoln Steinhiser, 19, was driving northbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed in a no-passing area. That’s when he allegedly lost control of the Trailblazer, and slid across the three lanes of U.S. 35, across a yard, and into the corner of a house.

Investigators say several people, including children, were in the home at the time, but none of them were injured. However, the home experienced significant structural damage, according to officers, who say it was knocked several inches off its foundation.

Steinhiser claimed to have minor injuries and was taken to LaPorte Hospital. But when he got to the emergency room, he allegedly refused medical treatment and tried to leave. A deputy was called to the hospital to detain Steinhiser, but he reportedly resisted. He was finally taken into custody and was transported to the LaPorte County Jail.
