Knox Fire Department Responds to Three Arson Fires in Two Weeks

The City of Knox has seen a spike in arson cases in the past month. “We’ve had three set fires in the City of Knox in a matter of a two-week period, ranging from, I believe, April 27 to May 10,” says Fire Chief Kenny Pfost. The fires at 411 South East Street, 108 South McGill Street, and on Spruce Drive in Parkview Heights were all determined to be set fires by an investigator with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Pfost says the investigations have since been turned over to the Knox Police Department. “We don’t have reason to believe, at this point, that the fires are linked together,” he says, “but if you hear anything, please report it to the Knox Police Department.”

He adds that there were no injuries in the incidents. When firefighters arrived at the Parkview Heights home, they were told that two people may have been inside, but no one was found once the fire was extinguished.
