West Central School Corporation Pursues Second Phase of Lilly Counseling Grant

The West Central School Corporation continues to pursue grant funding for its counseling services.

Superintendent Don Street says the nonprofit group Battelle for Kids is helping West Central apply for the second phase of a Lilly Endowment Counseling Initiative grant. “We were able to secure the first grant, giving opportunities to help learn more about our kids and looking at different guidance programs and programs not only in guidance, but ways to help our students,” he explains. “So we’re working with them to try to secure a second grant, a very competitive $100,000 grant.”

While the first phase of the grant was designed to help with planning, the larger second phase would cover the implementation. The focus of the initiative is to improve social and emotional health, as well as career readiness.
