Marshall County and Pulaski County are in the blue category on the state’s County Metrics Map while Starke County is in the yellow category.
The Indiana State Department of Health updated the map Wednesday that depicts community spread of COVID-19. All of the counties in the state are either blue or yellow which indicates a lower community spread of COVID-19.
Marshall County is allowed to operate under the guidelines in a blue status county released in Governor Eric Holcomb’s Executive Order, while Starke County and Pulaski County are still restricted to yellow status guidelines this week.
Another Marshall County resident died of COVID-19, according to Wednesday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. That person was one of nine additional deaths reported in the state Wednesday which pushes the overall total number of deaths in the state to 12,200.
Several new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the tri-county area. Marshall County had six new cases, Starke County had three and Pulaski County had one. They were among 786 new cases reported in the state.

As of Wednesday, 1,031,266 people in the state have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 6,113 people in Marshall County, 2,809 people in Starke County and 2,126 people in Starke County. More than 608,000 Hoosiers are fully vaccinated including 4,135 people in Marshall County, 1,320 people in Starke County and 1,349 people in Pulaski County.
In the weekly long-term care facility update on the state’s coronavirus website, it lists less than five additional COVID-19 deaths at the Pulaski Health Care Center, and a newly verified resident COVID-19 case at Miller’s Merry Manor in Walkerton.
