The North Judson-San Pierre School Board members are continuing discussions of having its own corporation police department.

Superintendent Kelly Shepherd said another step in the process will occur at the next school board meeting.

“Coming next month we are going to have our SRO [School Resource Officer] attend the board meeting for a final presentation as we move toward creating our own police department with North Judson-San Pierre schools,” said Shepherd. “Officer Chris Kisela is going to come and answer any board questions. The other schools in the area have done the same and we’ve been moving on that same path.”

The next meeting is Tuesday, October 15.

In other news, the board welcomed a new member when the board reorganized in July. Everett James joins school board members Sheila Akers, Sandy Kersting Rudd, Cameron Stalbaum, and Doug Wilde. Members of the North Judson-San Pierre School Board are appointed and James was appointed by the Rich Grove Township Trustee.
