National Weather Service Issues Dense Fog Advisory

 
 

A dense fog advisory is in effect through mid-morning. Visibility will be reduced to a quarter of a mile or less in places. The fog is expected to lift by 9 a.m. Eastern, 8 a.m. Central. Until then, motorists should slow down, use low-beam headlights for visibility and leave plenty of distance between vehicles.

Kindergarten Roundup at Oregon-Davis School is scheduled Wednesday, March 16 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. A child must be age five before August 1, 2016 to register. Nineteen students have already indicated their intention to attend class next fall.

The 2016-2017 School calendar was approved when the board met Monday night, as was the publication of the school’s 2014-2015 Annual Performance Report. Continue reading

Pulaski Council Requests More Time Prior to Possible EMA Move

Pulaski County CourthouseThe Pulaski County Council has a opted to refrain from giving the EMA Department its own building.

The conversation started several weeks ago after it was recommended that the Emergency Management Agency in Pulaski County store its response and military surplus equipment in a single location. Currently, the EMA Department works out of the county courthouse, but stores its equipment in several locations around the county.

Road Closed for Bridge Repair

Road Closed SignA road in northeast Davis Township will be closed for the next few months to accommodate a bridge replacement. The Starke County Highway Department has shut down 700 North between 500 East and U.S. 35 to replace the bridge over the Robbins Ditch built in 1975. The road is expected to reopen in early June. Hamlet Fall 5The bid of Covenant Concrete to repair and build several sidewalks in the Town of Hamlet was approved by the Town Board last Wednesday night. The approved projects total about $50,000, half of which must be paid by owners of the property, under the terms and conditions of the town’s 50/50 replacement program.
