Incidents:
03/06/11 A tow truck driver was getting ready to tow a car in the Francesville area when another car came by, hit the car he was towing and then hit him. The tow truck driver had a cut on his head and ended up being transported to the hospital.

03/06/11 A Star City resident called to report the theft of a car trailer.

03/06/11 A Winamac caller reported that a Windstar van drove through her yard, hit the phone box and took off.

03/05/11 Police were called to a location in the northwestern part of the county where an officer found a stopped car. Upon investigation, the driver had passed out and was slumped over the steering wheel. An open beer bottle was found in the console.

03/05/11 A police officer told dispatch that he is out with a disabled vehicle. It’s off the road with nobody around. The keys were on the seat and the vehicle appears to have been damaged from an accident. The officer noted that it appeared that the vehicle had been sitting there for a while.

03/04/11 A Pulaski resident told police that he is at a summer home and the gate is open and the chain is off. The garage door was open as well as the door going from the garage into the house. Nothing was reported stolen.

03/04/11 A resident in the Beardstown area reported the theft of deer statues.

03/04/11 A caller told police that a 1982 Chevy truck was stolen from his property. The truck was not drivable. It was for scrap only.

03/04/11 A Winamac resident told police that a suspicious male tampered with the mail in her mailbox.

03/03/11 A Winamac resident reported that a Pepsi machine had been broken into.

03/03/11 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to a fire at a wood shed and the shed is located close to the house. The caller told dispatch that the fire wasn’t as bad as originally thought and the fire was put out before the Fire Department arrived.

03/02/11 A caller in the Denham area told police that when she arrived home, the front door was kicked in and her dogs were outside.

03/01/11 A person in Monterey reported a mailbox and post stolen from the residence.

03/01/11 A caller reported a grain truck on fire at a neighbor’s house.

03/01/11 A Monterey resident reported his AK-47 stolen.

02/28/11 A Medaryville resident moved into a residence a week and a half ago and reported things missing from the residence. She believes the people who helped her move stole her items.

02/28/11 A caller in Medaryville reported that some unknown person(s) tried to break into the house and storage shed.

03/06/11 Danielle Pavey reported the theft of her purse from her locked car while it was parked at the Phillips 66 gas station.

03/05/11 Sharon Allen reported that her vehicle was damaged. The paint was scuffed and one of the car handles was broken. She believed that someone attempted to gain entry into the vehicle.

03/05/11 Jessica Harper reported criminal damage to her vehicle. She observed grease smeared on her driver’s side window. It was parked outside Mikey’s Pizza. The window also had a crack in it.

03/04/11 Patrick Guthrie reported that a suspect broke the window in his room at the Super Value Inn.

03/01/11 Sandy Hansen of Knox reported the theft of her purse and vehicle from the Starke County Abstract Office on Washington Street in Knox.

03/06/11 A caller reported a possible trailer fire in the area of 10950 E. South Ave. The Koontz Lake Fire Department was called to investigate.

03/05/11 A truck driver from the Grovertown Truck Stop called to report that he had fuel siphoned from his gas tank.

03/04/11 Jason Browler told police that some kids were on a roof tearing shingles off a house in the 10800 block of Kanney in Walkerton.

03/04/11 A kitchen fire was reported in a trailer at Born’s Trailer Park.

03/04/11 A caller from the Grovertown Truck stop reported the theft of fuel worth $500.

03/03/11 A woods fire was reported on Toto Rd, East of 1000 E. The Washington Township Fire Department was called to investigate.

03/03/11 A field fire was reported in the Lakewinds Subdivision near a house. The Bass Lake Fire Department was called to the scene.

03/02/11 A caller reported a male subject came to her door wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans, and a ski mask. The suspect entered the residence, displayed a gun and then left on foot.

03/02/11 A caller reported seeing suspects trying to take old pumps located at the northeast corner of State Road 8 and 39. Caller believes the pumps are being taken for scrap.

03/02/11 A caller reported the theft of a lawn mower from the 1800 block of E. 625 S. in Knox.

03/02/11 Property damage was reported in the 8100 block of N. State Road 23 in Walkerton.

03/01/11 Pastor Pradtke requested an officer at the Victory Christian Church on Range Road in reference to criminal damage.

03/01/11 It was reported to police that people were trying to break into a trailer in the 5800 block of S. U Road W. in North Judson.

Arrests:
03/06/11 Peter Schmaltz, 50, no address given, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possesssion of Marijuana.

03/06/11 Monica Krol, 58, of Walkerton, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

Accidents:
03/06/11 Richard Wilson, 66, of Walkerton was traveling southbound on State Road 23 when he hit a patch of ice. He lost control and struck a telephone box, utility pole, fence post and a well in the front yard at 8855 N. State Road 23. The pole was snapped at ground level. He was not injured.

02/28/11 Ronnie Lawson of North Judson was traveling west on State Road 10 near 100 East when four deer jumped into the roadway. Lawson hit one of the four deer, damaging his 2005 black Ford vehicle that is owned by the County. He was not injured.
