8/18/14 – A resident in the 8800 block of South U.S. 35 in Knox reported receiving harassing telephone calls.

8/18/14 – Sheriff’s deputies took a theft report from a woman who said her medication was stolen from her truck at Save a Lot in Knox on Friday, Aug. 15.

8/18/14 – A resident in the 5900 block of East 200 South in Knox reported damage to her mailbox sometime Saturday night

8/19/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle property damage accident at 200 North and U.S. 35 in Knox.

8/19/14 – A residential break-in was reported in the 4500 block of South 300 East in Knox.

8/19/14 – A caller advised a tractor-trailer stopped in front of the Stay For Less Motel in the westbound lane of U.S. 30 in Hamlet, the driver got out and took a speed limit sign that was on the ground.

8/19/14 – A resident in the 5200 block of South 250 West in North Judson reported a four-wheeler was stolen.

8/19/14 – A resident in the 7500 block of South 750 East in Monterey reported her truck was stolen from her residence recently. She gave deputies the name of the suspect.

8/20/14 – A resident in the 5900 block of U Road in North Judson reported the theft of items from the back seat of a vehicle.

8/21/14 – A resident in the 800 block of West 400 South in North Judson reported a property damage hit and run accident.

8/21/14 – Officers responded to a property damage accident in the 300 block of East U.S. 30 in Hamlet.

8/21/14 – The manager at Koontz Lake Market in the 7800 block of North State Road 23 reported the theft of lottery tickets.

8/22/14 – A Hamlet resident reported the theft of items from her yard.

8/23/14 – A Grovertown resident reported her husband’s debit card was used without his authorization in Avon, Ind.

8/23/14 – Starke County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a property damage accident at the intersection of U.S. 35 and Toto Road.

8/23/14 – A resident in the 4300 block of East Orchard Drive in Knox reported the theft of several items from the residence.

8/23/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS and North Judson Police Department responded to an accident with injuries in the 1200 block of East 150 South in North Judson.

8/23/14 – A resident in the 800 block of North 600 East in Knox reported the theft of medications from her residence and was told she would need to contact her doctor, as the sheriff’s department no longer takes reports for stolen prescription drugs.

8/23/14 – A resident in the 3300 block of South 500 West in North Judson reported a 2006 Ford F 350 stolen.

8/23/14 – Dispatchers received a report of people in a Ford pickup truck with lighted mirrors and lights on the roof shooting at stop signs in the area of 700 East and 200 South in Knox with a 12-gauge shotgun.

8/24/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS and North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to an accident with injuries in the 2700 block of East Toto Road.

8/24/14 – A resident in the 4300 block of East Orchard Drive in Knox reported her residence was broken into.

8/24/14 – A Walkerton resident reported he and a friend were chased down 600 North past State Road 23 the previous night, run off the road and accosted with baseball bats.

8/24/14 – A resident in the 7800 block of North State Road 23 requested an officer for a crash report for an accident that occurred in the driveway of the residence.

8/24/14 – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS and Knox Police Department responded to a report of a fight in the parking lot in the 2800 block of South County Road 210 in Knox.

8/21/14 – Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies and officers from the Winamac Police Department respond to a possible break-in.

8/22/14 – Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Winamac Fire Department responded to an electrical pole that was struck by lightning and caught fire.

8/22/14 – Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a garage break-in.

8/22/14 – Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a property to investigate possible trespassing when the owner noticed people cutting wood without his permission.

8/2314 – Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies were contacted by a man who received threatening messages on his telephone and requested a protective order.

8/23/14 – Winamac Police took a report of stolen tools.

8/23/14 – Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies and Winamac Police respond to a possible break-in.

Incidents:
08/18/14 A call from a resident in the 100 block of Silver Street involved the North Judson Police locating a dog running at large. The dog was returned to the owner along with a $50.00 ordinance violation citation.

08/18/014 North Judson Police investigated a report of a hit and run accident in the 600 Block of Laurel Street resulting in around $2,000 in damages. The owner could not pinpoint the exact time or place where the accident may have taken place. Officer Nick Vanni investigated.

08/18/14 An harassment complaint was fielded by the North Judson police in the 400 Block of High Street.

08/19/14 Officers and an ambulance were summoned to the 500 Block of Mulberry and a person was transported to IU Health Starke Hospital.

08/19/14 An employee at the Oak View Motel called North Judson police in reference to a disturbance in a room. After an investigation, no parties involved wanted to press formal charges. They were asked to leave the room.

08/21/14 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas conducted a traffic stop on 250 West resulting in an arrest of Jason D. Hanson, 33, of North Judson for resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle while intoxicateed. He was transported to the Starke County Jail.

08/21/14 A property damage accident occurred on Lane Street near the intersection of Talmer Avenue. A vehicle exiting the Napa Parking lot pulled out into traffic on Lane Street and was hit by another vehicle. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated the incident setting damages at near $2,500. No tickets were issued and no injuries reported.

08/21/14 A vehicle traveling north on County Road 250 West, just south of County Road 700 South swerved off the roadway to avoid hitting a few chickens in the roadway. The vehicle than struck a fence and a tree. North Judson officers responded to the accident and Officer Scott Beishuizen investigated the incident setting damages just under $5,000. No injuries were reported. Chief Deputy Joe Budner assisted in the investigation.

08/21/14 A storm caused a tree to lose some big limbs that hit electric lines. North Judson police responded to the traffic hazard and notified the street department who came out and cleared the debris.

08/22/14 Police responded to the 200 Block of Garden Street in reference to a dog complaint. Police spoke to both neighbors involved.

08/23/14 Another dog complaint was reported in the 200 Block of Leslie Street. Police gave a verbal warning to the owners.

Arrests:

08/17/14 John Bochnicka, Jr., 44, 311 N. George Street, of North Judson, IN, was arrested on a warrant and on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement.

08/17/14 Erin M. Schrader, 24, 6175 S. John Street, of North Judson, IN, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

08/19/14 – Michael A. Nickelson, 38, 402 Lincoln Street, of North Judson, IN, was arrested on warrant for failure to appear.

08/21/14 Janson D. Hansen, 33, 2335 W. Total Road, of North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
