Woman Airlifted after Two Vehicle Accident

 
 

A Rochester woman was injured in a two vehicle accident Tuesday night.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, a teenaged Plymouth resident was traveling north on Michigan Road north of 15th Road and turning left into a driveway behind another vehicle. Judy Pritchett, 50, of Rochester was traveling south on Michigan Road and was struck in the driver’s side by the teenager’s vehicle.

Motorcycle Accident Critically Injures Argos Woman

An Argos woman was critically injured after being involved in a motorcycle accident in Marshall County Friday morning.

A witness to the accident, Deborah Harley of Walkerton, told Marshall County Police officers that she was traveling north on U.S. 31 while behind Lynne E. Brown of Argos, who was driving a motorcycle in the passing lane approaching 14 C Road. Harley said she saw a deer running from the west and started slowing down to avoid the deer. According to Harley, Brown did not slow and ran into the deer as it was crossing the highway.

Local Fire Departments Receive Grants

73 rural and volunteer fire departments from 46 counties across Indiana have been awarded more than $310,000 in Volunteer Fire Assistance grants from the Department of Natural Resources.

The DNR Forestry staff reviews grant applications and selects recipients based on population density, acres of public wildlands protected, and wildlife fire reporting to DNR Fire Control Headquarters. Grants can be used for training, installation of dry hydrants, or purchasing necessary firefighting equipment and personal protective gear. Local fire departments that receive grants must match the grant with cash or in-kind contributions.
