Mullins, Wireman Sentenced in Starke Circuit Court

Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall sentenced two offenders in his court yesterday after they pleaded guilty in separate plea agreements with the state.

Avery Mullins pleaded guilty to a charge of Dealing a Narcotic Drug – Heroin as a Class B felony. Judge Hall sentenced Mullins to 10 years in the Department of Corrections with no part of that sentence suspended. If Mullins successfully completes the CLIFF or GRIP program while in prison, he may petition the court for a modification of his sentence. Mullins will serve this sentence consecutively with a previous sentence.

Aaron Wireman pleaded guilty to a charge of Counterfeiting and received a sentence of 30 months in the Department of Corrections with no part of the sentence suspended. He will serve this sentence consecutively with a previous sentence.

Initial Hearing Held for Avery Mullins

An initial hearing in the case of Avery Mullins was held Wednesday in Starke Circuit Court.

Mullins, who was arrested on June 6, pleaded not guilty to charges of Dealing in a Narcotic Drug, a Class B felony, plus Possession of a Narcotic Drug and Possession of a Syringe as Class D felonies. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of Possession of Paraphernalia.

Mullins’ next court date is set for Aug. 7.

Avery Mullins remains in the Starke County Jail on a surety bond of $50,000.

Plea Hearing Set For Avery Mullins In Pulaski Circuit Court

A plea hearing has been set in Pulaski Circuit Court for Nov. 7 for a former Grovertown resident.

Avery Mullins, who now lists Winamac as his residence, was arrested in May 2011 after Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department officers found Mullins and another suspect in the driveway of a residence whose owner was no longer there. Officers found they had active arrest warrants and took them into custody.

Two Arrested on Methamphetamine Charges in Pulaski County

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department officers arrested two people, Friday, May 13th, on methamphetamine related charges.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. ET, officers observed a vehicle pull up to a home near Beardstown on U.S. 35. Officers knew that the occupant of the home is in the nursing home and so they stopped and watched the occupants in the vehicle from a distance. After a while, the officers pulled into the driveway to check their story and one occupant fled into a building. At that time, Avery A. Mullins, 28, of Grovertown and Otis T. Young, 30, of Plymouth, were taken into custody. A wanted persons check found that both subjects were wanted on outstanding warrants in Marshall County.
