Culver Blessings In A Back Pack Seeks Donations, Program To Continue into Summertime

Volunteers with Culver’s Blessings in a Backpack program realize that hunger doesn’t halt just because school is no longer in session.

Thanks to the generous donations of committed community members, Blessings in a Backpack was able to expand their winter school program into the summertime last year.

This year, they will continue the summer program and will be working in conjunction with the USDA Summer Food Service Program to provide weekend meals to students who require additional assistance. Continue reading

Bolt for Blessings Fun Run Fundraiser

Culver Community Schools currently assist one-hundred underprivileged students by providing backpacks filled with food to take home on the weekends. This year, during Culver Fall Fest on October 7th, you have the opportunity to help out and work out with the Bolt for Blessings fundraiser.

Annually, it costs around $125,000 to purchase the food and supplies needed. This event serves as the primary source of funding for the Blessings in a Backpack program. The race registration fee costs $15 for students K-12 and general admission is $25. If you register online prior to race day, you have will receive a T-Shirt. Businesses and interested individuals have a chance to be sponsors and have their name appear on the shirts for $150. Continue reading

Students Take Advantage of Free Breakfast and Lunch at Culver Sites

The staff at the Culver School Corporation and staff at locations throughout the Culver area are offering free breakfast and lunch as part of the federal Summer Food Service Program.

Culver’s efforts began on June 5 and just a few students have accepted meals at the Culver High School, 30 students for breakfast and 60 students for lunch at the Culver Elementary School, 15 students for lunch only at the Monterey Public Library, 20-25 students for lunch at the Leiters Ford Community Building, 15-20 children at the Ora Gospel Church and 15-20 kids for lunch only at the Culver-Union Township Public Library.
