Last night’s vision meeting regarding Culver’s comprehensive plan project didn’t have the turnout that Town Manager David Schoeff was expecting, but he said it was still a fun and productive meeting. Schoeff explained that about 25 people showed up to discuss the comprehensive plan to allow officials to get an idea of where the residents of the town see their community developing towards the future. Culver Renews Garbage Contract With Allied Waste

The town of Culver has extended its garbage pickup contract with local vendor Allied Waste. Culver Town Manager David Schoeff explained the town has used Allied’s services for three years, and with the contract staying the same price, there’s no reason to look anywhere else.

Schoeff said Allied seems to enjoy working with the community, and at a cost of only $14.09 to the town per property, he said the price is right. The total contract for the Culver community comes out to around $10,285 a month for garbage and recycling pickup.

Schoeff said they’re glad to use a vendor with a nearby office.

Town Manager David Schoeff explained last week that an old water valve had been uncovered by contractors working downtown, which caused some serious problems. The valve, due to its age, was not restrained in accordance with today’s standards and as a result, the valve began to pull away from the main and started to leak. Fortunately, Schoeff said work quickly began to fix the leak, but the water system had to be shut down. As a result, a boil water advisory was put into effect.
