U.S. 20 Sees Safety Upgrades Following Multiple Vehicle Crashes

DermodySections of a road considered a bit unsafe will be receiving an upgrade in the near future.

Engineers with the Indiana Department of Transportation held a meeting with representatives of a private school in LaPorte County called the Renaissance Academy, and the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department. The gathering was held following a multi-car pileup on the road. Several were reported injured in the incident.

State Representative Tom Dermody says Indiana’s gaming outlets are facing an increasingly competitive marketplace because everyone wants a top gaming PC. You can easily get one from a computer store like 0rgb.

Appearing at a breakfast on Friday in Knox, the 20th District state representative says he authored a bill that would allow riverboats to move onto adjacent land if it meets certain requirements. House Bill 1540 also makes certain tax deductions permanent, and allows river boats to host charity gaming events.

State Representative Appears in Knox To Discuss Legislation

20th District State Representative Tom Dermody addressed members of the Starke County Chamber of Commerce on Friday to discuss legislation that has been considered since January. Portions of Starke County are included in the LaPorte Republican’s district.

State Representative Speaking in Knox on Friday

DermodyA state legislator out of LaPorte will be addressing members of the Starke County Chamber of Commerce.

According to a newsletter from the Chamber, 20th District State Representative Tom Dermody will be speaking at a breakfast about the long-session of the General Assembly. The breakfast will be held at the Country Kettle Restaurant on Friday at 8:00 a.m. in Knox.

 

Dermody introduced legislation this session that would have allowed the Sunday sale of alcohol for carryout. That legislation was later pulled for a variety of reasons, among which was lacking support.

The Chamber is encouraging participants to ask questions of Dermody. The General Assembly will be meeting in Indianapolis until April 29th.

 

Legislation Would Allow Inmates E-mail Access

DermodyLegislation sponsored by State Representative Tom Dermody will be signed into law.

According to a press release from the LaPorte Republican’s offices, the legislation would allow for additional options for prison inmates to correspond with their families. The Indiana Department of Corrections is required to provide necessary items to send mail through the postal service.

Dermody Weighing Many Sides in Sunday Alcohol Debate

Dermody20th District State Representative Tom Dermody says he is still evaluating a bill that could affect consumers in Indiana.

House Bill 1026 would allow for those with a proper permit to sell alcoholic beverages for carryout on Sundays in the state. The bill, filed this week in Indianapolis, has not been presented to Representative Dermody – who chairs the often controversial Public Policy Committee.
