District 2 Task Force Tests HVAC Equipment

 
 

A few members of the District 2 Task Force were in the Winamac Town Park Wednesday morning to do some testing of HVAC equipment. Sherry Fagner from the Pulaski County Health Department explains that they were trying to remedy the air system.

“We are testing some new HVAC systems and some duct work with the systems we currently have. We try to be prepared when something happens and this is part of our plans to get them to where we want them in the field. Can we go right now? Absolutely. But, we want to make sure the systems we have are the best they can be,” explained Fagner.

Long Beach Manager Thanks District 2 Task Force

  
 
During the recent Marshall County Commissioners meeting, Marshall County Commissioner Deb Griewank read aloud a letter presented to the District 2 Task Force from the Long Beach, N.Y. area.

The letter was written by the City Manager of Long Beach Jack Schnirman in which he thanked the immediate response of Indiana’s District 2 Task Force in their time of need after Superstorm Sandy wreaked havoc in that area. Members of the Incident Management team set up camp and helped coordinate emergency efforts in stabilizing the conditions in the city.

Local Emergency Responders Providing Aide in the Wake of Hurricane Sandy

Several local emergency responders are in various parts of the East Coast to tend to situations due to Hurricane Sandy.

The District 2 Emergency Management Team left Winamac Sunday around midnight and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland at Noon. The responders, which include those from Starke, Pulaski, Marshall and St. Joseph Counties, participated in several briefings with local emergency staff, on-site FEMA representatives and the Mayor of Baltimore. Starke County Emergency Management Director Ted Bombagetti is one of those emergency responders in the City of Baltimore and he indicated that District 2 will be conducting emergency operation planning and providing the city with damage assessment and debris management support starting this morning.

Indiana District 2 Task Force Called to Duty

Members of the District 2 Task Force in Indiana have been called to duty to provide aide to those in New Jersey as Hurricane Sandy could wreak havoc on the East Coast.

Starke County EMA Director Ted Bombagetti, who is a member of the District 2 Task Force, said ambulance support deployed out of Indianapolis yesterday. A total of 50 ambulances are making their way to New Jersey and five of those ambulances are coming out of the District 2 Task Force which encompasses Starke, Pulaski, Fulton, Marshall, and St. Joseph Counties.

District 2 Task Force Gets Some Exercise In Winamac

A District 2 Task Force exercise was held in the Winamac Town Park.

The District 2 Task Force wrapped up operations yesterday in the Winamac Town Park. Sherry Fagner, District 2 Service and Support Element Leader, explains what the exercise entailed.

“What we’ve done the last two days is set up our equipment, our base camp, and completed a field operation exercise,” said Fagner. “We’ve had a lot of people in from the state and the other task forces to check out what we have. A lot of the other task forces are in the learning stage of forming their service and support groups so they came in to see what we have. We’re doing some best practices from their groups as well as with ours.”
