Leave Wild Animals in the Wild

 

While it may be tempting to help a baby animal who appears abandoned, wildlife officials ask that you leave the animals alone.

Wildlife Information Specialist with the DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife Michelle Cain says many animals leave their young in search for food and come back to them later in the day. It is best to leave them in their habitat rather than care for them.

Deer Archery Season Opens Today

Deer archery season opens today in Indiana. All hunters must be licensed and must use legal archery equipment as defined by the DNR. These include long bows, compound bows or recurve bows and arrows. The bow must have a pull of at least 35 pounds. Arrows must be tipped with broadheads that are metal, metal-edged or napped flint; chert or obsidian. Indiana DNR Unveils New Package of Deer Hunting Rules

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has unveiled a new package of recommended changes to deer hunting rules that will be presented to the Natural Resources Commission at its January 11th meeting at Ft. Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.

The Natural Resources Commission withdrew its preliminary approval of an earlier plan because overwhelming public comment opposed shortening some segments of the deer hunting seasons.
