Emergency Response Vehicles Delivering Food and Clean-Up Kits Around Indiana

On Wednesday, Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles started delivering food and supplies to flood-affected areas around Indiana, including the counties of Marshall, Starke and Pulaski.

Lead Disaster Action Team Member and Local Red Cross Volunteer Sherry Fagner spent the beginning of this week working with the Mass Care Feeding League at Red Cross Headquarters in South Bend, organizing contracts with areas requesting assistance and preparing kits to deliver to the spots that were hit the hardest by the recent floods. Pulaski Council Requests More Time Prior to Possible EMA Move

Pulaski County CourthouseThe Pulaski County Council has a opted to refrain from giving the EMA Department its own building.

The conversation started several weeks ago after it was recommended that the Emergency Management Agency in Pulaski County store its response and military surplus equipment in a single location. Currently, the EMA Department works out of the county courthouse, but stores its equipment in several locations around the county.

That’s the question Marshall County’s EMA Director Clyde Avery wanted members of the Culver Town Council to ask themselves. Avery presented before the Council on Tuesday both to introduce himself to new members, but also to bring Culver up-to-date on what is expected while preparing for possible emergencies.

Pulaski County EMA Director Resigns

Pulaski County CourthouseThe Pulaski County Commissioners accepted the letter of resignation of their Emergency Management Agency Director.

Larry Hoover told the Commissioners last night that he would leave his position effective August 1st. Allowing for several weeks to make the transition also will allow Hoover time to prepare certain grant applications for the county.
