The Culver Community School Board received a presentation from FFA President Alex Temme who told them all about Culver’s involvement in this year’s National FFA Conference.
FFA members were able to watch the rodeo there as well as exhibit some of their agricultural skills. Superintendent Karen Shuman said that Culver students experienced some success with their soil judging presentations, getting ranked as one of the top ten teams to compete. Continue reading →
North Judson-San Pierre Future Farmers of America members will be headed to Louisville, Ky. next month for the organization’s national convention. Their trip is made possible in part by the Starke County Farm Bureau. Representative Tiffany Naigi presented a $700 check to program during Tuesday’s school board meeting. FFA officers also told the school board about last year’s convention. It featured a career and trade show, motivational speakers and leadership development workshops. Continue reading →
A former Oregon-Davis High School student has been honored with the highest level of membership in the Future Farmers of America Organization. Lauren Jernas of Brems received the American FFA Degree last October in recognition of her high levels of commitment to FFA.
The award boasts a lengthy list of required qualifications, including a C-average and significant accomplishments in Supervised Agricultural Experiences. Jernas told WKVI morning host Tom Berg that her SAE covered beef production over two years, keeping records of projects as she built up her herd and maintained her beef production education.
