Boil Water Order Continues for Town of Hamlet

The boil water order continues for the Town of Hamlet. The order is in effect until Wednesday, March 2nd.

The advisory was initially put into effect on Friday, February 25th after Hamlet Water Superintendent, John Goble, notified WKVI that some unknown suspect(s) opened two fire hydrants on 500 East and left them open. The act, that occurred between 9:00-9:30 p.m. CT, drained the water tower for the Town of Hamlet. A third hydrant was partially opened. In two-and-a-half hours, 300,000 gallons of water was drained from the water tower. The fire hydrants are located out by the Sysco property on 500 East.

Hamlet Police Chief, Jeremiah Patrick, told WKVI that there are no suspects at this time, but his Department is continuing to investigate the incident.

Hamlet Police Officers Arrest Two after Short Foot Pursuit

Hamlet Police officers arrested a Grovertown man and a Knox man after a short foot pursuit Wednesday night.

Hamlet Police Chief, Jeremiah Patrick, told WKVI that police were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on old U.S. 30 and the vehicle fled from police. The vehicle traveled through a field and wrecked into a ditch at 600 North.

Two Arrested after Short Pursuit with Hamlet Police

Two people were arrested by the Hamlet Police Department, Wednesday, after a police pursuit.

Hamlet Police Chief, Jeremiah Patrick, told WKVI that at 10:30 p.m. CT, Wednesday, Larry Catt, 21, of Hamlet, failed to stop after police initiated a traffic stop. A vehicle pursuit ensued and ended at Catt’s residence at 607 W. Davis Street in Hamlet. While police officers were taking Catt into custody, Lonzo Jackson came out of the residence with a large knife on his belt and in a rage, demanded that police leave his driveway and release Larry from custody. Jackson was told to go back inside the residence and he did not comply. When police attempted to take Jackson into custody, he ran into his residence and locked the door. Hamlet Police and Starke County Sheriff’s Department officers made their way into the house and Jackson was taken into custody after a struggle.
