Pulaski County Human Services Recruiting Tax Prep Volunteer

 
 

With tax season coming up soon, Northwest Indiana Community Action is looking to once again hold their Asset Building Campaign, a program aiming to help prepare and file taxes for low-income families. Jackie Frain with Pulaski County Human Services explained the program not only benefits the low-income families by helping them afford winter coats, pay utility bills and even save for homeownership, it also benefits the community as a whole.

Pulaski County Human Services Needs A “Shot In The Arm”

Pulaski County Human Services Director Jackie Frain recently approached the county commissioners humbly requesting funds to keep the organization afloat. Frain says that another budget cut is on its way in July, and they’re already struggling to stay above water. She said that her oganization has not requested money from the commissioners in eight years because they were previously able to raise funds and receive grants to cover what shortfalls they had, but with the additional budget cut on its way down, she fears the worst.

WKVI Food Drive Results are in; Pulaski County Food Pantry Report

The totals are in from this past weekend’s food drive at the Knox Mall.  WKVI collected $2167.73, and 1,469 pounds of food. Added to that total of food is 1,125 pounds from Boy Scout Pak #281 in North Judson for a total of 2,594 pounds of food.  A big thank you again from Joan Haugh and everyone at Community Services of Starke County who received the money and food for their food pantry.
