Ten Year Prison Sentence Handed to Donaldson Man

A Donaldson man will spend several years in prison after pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to a charge of possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon.

According to a press release from Prosecutor David Holmes, Charlie Carlisle, Sr. admitted in Marshall County Superior Court No. 1 on Wednesday that he was in possession of a stolen handgun and sold it to another person after he was previously convicted of burglary as a Class B felony.

Marshall County Man Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison

 A Plymouth man was sentenced to 50 years in prison yesterday in Marshall County Superior Court.

Kenneth Schoff, 35, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to charges of Conspiracy to Deliver Methamphetamine and Habitual Offender. He had pleaded guilty to the charges in an earlier hearing where the prosecutor and the defense left the sentencing recommendation up to Judge Robert Bowen.

One Marshall County Court to Be Closed Friday for a Period of Time

  
 
Marshall County Superior Court Judge Robert Bowen asked the commissioners this week for permission to close his court Friday for a short period of time.

Judge Bowen explained to the commissioners that he and his staff would like to go to the funeral of former Indiana Governor Otis Bowen in Bremen Friday morning at 11 a.m. ET and would need to close the court from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Initial Hearing Held for Man Suspected of Murder

  
 
An initial hearing was held in Marshall County Superior Court 1 Friday afternoon in the case of Olan Howard who has been charged with Murder and Dealing in a Schedule I Controlled Substance.

The hearing was held via video conference where a plea of not guilty was entered. Howard was found to be indigent and Judge Robert Bowen appointed Tom Black as his attorney. A pretrial conference was set for March 13 and two jury trial settings were set for Sept. 10 and Oct. 1. He remains in the Marshall County Jail on a cash bond of $100,000.

Howard is accused of murdering Stephen O. Vires on May 19, 2012 while committing or attempting to commit dealing in a scheduled I controlled substance. It is alleged the controlled substance was heroin and/or morphine. He was arrested shortly after an indictment in this case was filed by a Marshall County Grand Jury.
