Man Faces Felony Charges, Following Friday Manhunt in Rural LaPorte County

Charges have been announced against a man who reportedly led police on an hours-long manhunt in rural LaPorte County Friday. Sheriff’s deputies say Charles Appleberry, 26, was captured Friday morning, after a resident reported seeing him in a field on County Road 800 West. That was nearly nine hours after a homeowner confronted Appleberry during what police are calling the burglary of a pole barn.

LaPorte County Judge Awarded Grant for Court Program Needs

  
 
Twenty-three county courts were granted money to help support local family court projects.

The Indiana Supreme Court awarded $232,470 in grant money to court systems to help focus on creating innovative programs that improve the court process for families. Priority was given to those who emphasized improving access to the courts for families without attorneys, promoting timely resolution of cases and implementing other programs that support families throughout the court process.
