Delivering a baby in a semi truck on the side of the Indiana Toll Road is how one state trooper spent his Friday afternoon. Indiana State Police say Trooper Thomas Maymi was observing traffic while parked near the 52 mile-marker in LaPorte County. A truck stopped, and a man got out and ran across the highway asking for help for his pregnant wife.

LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies say they were called to the 7800 block of West State Road 2 at about 3:15 Thursday morning, after getting a report of an unresponsive man lying along the roadway. The LaPorte Coujnty Metro Operations Unit is investigating an active meth lab in Kingsford Heights. The sheriff’s department got a call just before 5 a.m. today about people “cooking” methamphetamine at a home in the 300 block of Evanston Road.
