The Marshall County Council approved a request from Clerk Julie Fox to hire two new employees in her office.
Fox explained that two of her deputies will be retiring, mostly due to the changes in retirement benefits.
Carolyn “Avon” Hansen has worked for 20 years with Marshall County. Fox said Hansen began in the clerk’s office and then moved to the child support division. She eventually came back to the clerk’s office and that’s where she will finish her career. Her last day will be May 30.
When the census was conducted in 2010, it was found that the four Center Township voting districts in Plymouth were not equal. The four voting districts were amended to equal amounts. The election board felt that it was confusing to split up the districts in which they had become so the boundaries were changed.
A polling site change was approved by the Marshall County Commissioners.
Marshall County Clerk Julie Fox and Roger Wise from the Election Board proposed moving the Union Township polling site from the Culver-Union Township Public Library to the Culver Depot on Lakeshore Drive.
