VSO Accreditation a Topic of Discussion With Marshall County Commissioners

  
 
Veterans Service Officer Pam Schweizer-Betz explained the process of accreditation to the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning.

She told the commissioners that all veteran services officers must be accredited in the state to continue to offer services to veterans. The officers will go through in-depth training to obtain the accreditation from the American Legion or other government entity. Schweizer-Betz said it’s a good idea – only she hasn’t received a packet on the training or when it’s supposed to occur so she can go through the proper steps to be accredited.

Marshall County Commissioners to Reorganize This Morning

The Marshall County Commissioners approved several appointments during their recent meeting.

The commissioners approved the following reappointments: Clyde Avery as EMA Director, Neal Haeck as the Highway Superintendent, Chuck DeWitt as Building Inspector, and James Clevenger as County Attorney.

Pam Schweizer-Betz was approved as the veterans service officer by a unanimous vote. She will begin in the full-time position today.

The commissioners will meet again this morning at 8:30 a.m. ET when the board members will reorganize, Haley Kittrell – the new CASA director – will give a report, and several other appointments will be approved.
