Pulaski County Commissioners Recommend Lower Speed Limit, Additional Signs on 400 North

A stretch of Pulaski County Road 400 North may soon get a lower speed limit and a number of warning signs. The county commissioners voted Monday to lower the speed limit to 35 miles per hour between U.S. 421 and County Road 1400 West. That now goes to the county council for final approval.

Pulaski County Council Approves Budget Transfer for Fuel Tax Reimbursement Consultant

Pulaski County Council Approves Pay Raise for Seasonal Highway Department Employees

Some Pulaski County Highway Department employees will finally be getting a pay raise. The county council voted Monday to raise the pay rate for the department’s seasonal part-time employees from $13 to $15, and make the raise retroactive to May.

Several Concerns Remain to Be Addressed, As Pulaski County’s Budget Discussions Continue

The Pulaski County Council is hoping to cut budgets, adjust the salary matrix, and start reconfiguring the county’s tax structure, all within the next month or so. Council members will continue discussing potential budget cuts with department heads tonight and next Monday at 7:00 p.m. EDT in the Pulaski County Highway Garage. During last week’s special session, Council Member Kathi Thompson said there are still several departments they need to see.

Confusion Remains over Pulaski County Highway Department Seasonal Employees’ Pay Rate

Some Pulaski County Highway Department employees will have to wait a bit longer before finding out whether they’ll get a pay raise. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff asked the county council last week for a final decision on the pay rate for seasonal employees. “The seasonal is the mower guys and what we’re doing, the blacktop and everything, in the summertime,” Ruff explained.

Pulaski County, Landowners Reach Agreement on Swayze Camp Lane

Swayze Camp Lane will remain in its current alignment but become an official Pulaski County road. The county and neighboring landowners have reached an agreement on the disputed access lane, according to County Attorney Kevin Tankersley.

Pulaski County Council Finalizes Additional Appropriations, Reappoints Library Board Member

The Pulaski County Council finalized more than $70,000 in additional appropriations this week. A large chunk of that was pension and vehicle funding for the Sheriff’s Department, according to Auditor Laura Wheeler.

Pulaski County Commissioners Take Action to Settle Swayze Camp Lane Dispute

The Pulaski County Commissioners may have reached a solution on a long-disputed access lane. Several residents were at Monday’s meeting calling for Swayze Camp Lane to be reopened. It runs from County Road 400 South to the Swayze Camp subdivision along the Tippecanoe River south of Winamac.

Pulaski County Council Approves Encumbrance Requests, Following Confusion over Procedures

We’re more than a third of the way through 2019, but some Pulaski County officials are still trying to pay bills out of the 2018 budget. More than $10,000 in encumbrances were presented to the county council for approval Monday.

Pulaski County Commissioners Open Second Round of Bids for Community Crossings Projects

A second round of bidding has resulted in some slightly lower prices for planned paving work in Pulaski County. Plans call for hot mix asphalt work on County Road 550 South west of State Road 39 and County Road 600 South from State Road 119 to Base Road. The county is applying for a Community Crossings grant, to cover 75 percent of the cost.

Pulaski County Has to Rebid Paving Projects to Qualify for Community Crossings Grant

The Pulaski County Highway Department will have to redo the bid process for this year’s Community Crossings projects. Last month, the county commissioners awarded a $1.18 million bid to Town & Country Paving for work on County Road 550 South west of State Road 39 and County Road 600 South from State Road 119 to Base Road.
