LaPorte Man Killed in Toll Road Accident

A LaPorte man was killed after being hit by a vehicle on the Toll Road.

The Toll Road dispatch center received a call about an erratic driver and shortly after that call was made, another came in about the same vehicle that just hit the back of a maintenance pick-up truck.

A worker for LaPorte District Maintenance Area 2, 52-year-old Daniel J. Miller of LaPorte, just exited the pick-up to retrieve trimming equipment from the back of the vehicle when a passenger car driven by 78-year-old Paul A. Kimbrugh of Coldwater, Michigan slammed into Miller and back of the maintenance truck. Continue reading

Toll Road at the 58 Mile Marker in LaPorte County Now Open

Both the east and westbound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road were closed down shortly after 1:00 a.m. today due to a fire at the 58 mile marker in LaPorte County. A semi tractor trailer hauling a flammable liquid caught fire in the west bound lane.

At this time, all lanes of the Indiana Toll Road are open.  The lanes were closed close to 12 hours to clean up the area.
