Starke County Community Foundation Honors Tri Kappa’s Generosity

The Starke County Community Foundation recently honored a local nonprofit organization for the outstanding work they do in the community. The Zeta EtaTri Kappa Chapter received the 2nd annual James R. Hardesty Leadership in Philanthropy Award during the SCCF 20th anniversary celebration. Continue reading

Starke County Students to See Shakespeare Play

Seventh and eighth grade students from Knox, North Judson-San Pierre and Oregon-Davis will be attending professional Shakespeare play today at the North Judson-San Pierre High School Auditorium.

Tri Kappa gave the schools a grant for $4,105 in order to have the Navy Pier traveling Shakespeare group perform “Taming of the Shrew” at the North Judson-San Pierre Auditorium. 465 students will be able to see how the Shakespeare plays are presented and learn more about Shakespeare and the era while attending this event.

Knox Zeta Eta Tri Kappa Organization Attends Convention

Several members of the Knox Zeta Eta Chapter of the Tri Kappa organization recently attended the Tri Kappa XXI Convention at the LaPorte First United Methodist Church.

Rhonda Cavinder gave a report and a Fine Arts competition was held. Brenda Krom and Shirley Fosler had entries in the photography division and Jennifer Frasure had made a Zeta Eta scrapbook.

Tri Kappa 50 Year Celebration Held in Knox

Forty members of Tri Kappa gathered at the Knox Community Center on May 14th to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Zeta Eta Chapter in Knox. One of the thirteen charter members, Judith Brooke, attended as a special guest.

Sandy Hansen, past Chapter President, presided at the celebration. She introduced other guests: Sue Crisman, past Council President, who came from Crown Point; Jenny McBride, Province XII Officer, a member of the Westville Chapter, and Lori Jacob, a past Province XII Officer from Walkerton. Other guests, former members of the local chapter, came from Kentucky and Michigan, as well as Selma, Plymouth, LaPorte, Culver, Walkerton, and Monticello in Indiana. Many friendships were renewed.

Local Representatives Attend State Tri Kappa Convention

Rhonda Cavinder and Shirley Fosler of the local Zeta Eta chapter of Tri Kappa recently attended the 59th State Convention of Tri Kappa, held in Indianapolis. As delegates, they attended business sessions and educational workshops, and sold the local chapter’s Tri Kappa ribbon, vinyl clings, and handmade cards. The Fine Arts winners from Province Conventions were on display, and Joan Byer of the Knox Zeta Eta Chapter received a second place on her entry in the Green Craft category, a quilt made from neckties.
