Discussion about how to pay for a new water tower continued during last week’s Medaryville Town Council meeting. Bids for the construction of a water tower across the street from the town hall came in much higher than expected. Now, town officials are considering three financing options to fill a funding gap of more than $200,000.

Medaryville Town Council Votes to Build Water Tower

The Medaryville Town Council members will work to get funding to build a new water tower.

The town council members met in special session Monday night to discuss repairing the current water tower or erecting a completely new structure. According to Clerk-Treasurer Judy Harwood, the council weighed both options quite heavily. They eventually decided to build a new water tower as it was the most economical option.

Medaryville Moving Ahead with Plans for New Water Tower

The Town of Medaryville is working on plans for a new water tower. According to officials in the clerk-treasurer’s office, the plan is to build the water tower across the street from the town hall, on land currently owned by the Diocese of Lafayette. During a special session Friday, the town council voted to make an official offer to buy the two parcels for $6,000.

Plans for a community center in North Judson continue to move forward. Clerk-Treasurer Alicia Collins says drawings of some prospective designs are available for the public to view at the Town Hall. Continue reading

News from the Winamac Town Board

Entrance to the Winamac Town Park

The Winamac Town Board heard from Park Superintendent, Don Thompson, about damage done to the park due to flooding and vandalism.

He reported that the park was under water again this year when the Tippecanoe River swelled and drifted into the park. The Pulaski County Extension Office had removed items from the 4-H buildings to avoid further water damage. Beaver damage was also reported during the flood. Thompson also told the Board that several unknown person(s) caused damage to the playground equipment during a so-called party at the park. Glass was broken around the equipment and clean-up was extensive.
