Many people are visiting Christmas tree farms, like Hensler’s Nursery in Hamlet, to pick out the perfect tree to place in their homes. It’s important to keep your live Christmas tree fresh throughout the holiday season.
When you purchase your tree, cut off 1/2” or more from the base of the trunk before putting up the tree. Place the tree in a tree stand and fill it with fresh water. Don’t let the water level drop below the fresh cut on the base of the tree. Check the water level daily and don’t place the tree near a fireplace, heat vent or other heat source.
When Christmas is over, recycle your live Christmas tree. Chip your tree and make biodegradable mulch for landscaping.
