Knox City Police Department Investigates Burglary in Downtown Knox

The Knox City Police Department continues to investigate a break-in at the Starke County Abstract building on 14 E. Washington Street in Knox.

Suzie Gerretson called police on Wednesday, November 9th, when she entered the office and noticed that the safe was open and there were numerous papers scattered around the outside of the safe. Her desk drawer was also open.

Police found that an unknown suspect entered the building through a window located off the alley on the south side of the building. The suspect moved a window air conditioner unit from the window before entering. Police also found that Attorney, Leroy Gudeman’s, desk was ransacked. After Ken Whiles arrived at the office, it was determined that a small amount of cash was stolen from the safe. Whiles told police that the safe was closed when he left the office prior to this incident.
