The National Emergency Alert System will be tested across the nation on Wednesday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m. ET.
The National-level EAS is a national public alert and warning system that enables the President to address the American public during extreme emergencies. Warnings will be sent to radio and television stations, cable television, satellite radio and television services and wire line providers.
On Wednesday, you will hear an automated voice on the air at 2:00 p.m. ET that will simply say “this is a test”.
This test will help the federal partners and EAS participants determine the reliability of the system and its effectiveness in notifying the public of emergencies and potential dangers nationally and regionally.
This event should serve as a reminder that you should establish an emergency preparedness kit and emergency plan for your family, community and business.
