The North Judson Town Board held a public hearing this week regarding the 2014 budget. Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry explained there were no members of the public present, and Council President Wendy Hoppe presented the budget as it was advertised with no changes. An adoption hearing is scheduled for Oct. 7 prior to the regular meeting, and Henry said the town board will then sign a resolution to adopt the budget. Following that, the budget heads to the Department of Local Government Finance.
The town’s building inspector also reported there will be an unsafe building authority meeting on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center, located at 206 Keller Ave. in North Judson. There, they will review a few homes and properties that have been flagged as unsafe.
The park board also notified the town board that the North Judson-San Pierre High School fall concert will take place Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at Norwayne Field, the first time the concert will take place outside. Finally, the Starke County Youth Club asked the town board to proclaim the fourth Monday in September as “Family Day,” that is, a day to eat dinner with your family, Henry explained. That will be Sept. 23.
