WKVI Morning Guys Accept Cold Water Challenge

WKVI morning show host Tom Berg and sports director Nathan Welter will be chilling out, or perhaps freezing to death, for charity this afternoon at the WKVI studios in Knox. News director Mary Perren paid it forward by calling both of them out as part of the cold water challenge.

Firefighters and others are being good sports by agreeing to be doused with cold water for charity. Perren took a soaking from a fire hose Sunday at the North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department in exchange for a $10 donation to the Hoosier Burn Camp. If the person who is called out doesn’t want to get wet, they can write a nice, dry $100 check to the charity instead. Bass Lake Fire Chief Les Jensen volunteered to bring the department’s tanker truck and dump tank to the WKVI parking lot at 400 West Culver Road to accommodate the guys. He will be joining them, as he has also been called out by other firemen. Spectators are welcome and can be part of the fun as well. For a $5 contribution to the Hoosier Burn Camp, they can add a bag of ice to the water. The guys are taking the plunge at 4:30 p.m. and need all the warm wishes they can get.
