Indiana Conservation Officers are encouraging Hoosier sportsmen to donate part of their 2014-2015 deer harvest to help feed the hungry. Over 269,000 high protein venison meals were provided last year totaling 67,473 pounds of donated venison by Indiana deer hunters.Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard and Dubois County Sportsmen’s Club have developed a network of butcher shops throughout the state to participate in the effort. All of the venison is ground into burger and provided in two pound packages for distribution. Food banks from every county have been organized to pick up and deliver the venison to families and people in need. Visit www.SBF.IN.gov for more information.
