Tippecanoe and Kankakee River Flood Warnings Extended

 
 

The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning for the Tippecanoe River near Ora until further notice. At 9 last night the river was at 11.3 feet and rising. Flood stage is 12 feet.

The river is expected to rise above that early this morning and crest near 13.7 feet around 2 p.m. tomorrow. Additional rises are possible thereafter. At 14 feet, extensive flooding of residences and low lying areas begins.

The flood warning for the Kankakee River at U.S. 30 has also been extended until Saturday evening. Last night at 9 flood stage was 10.2 feet and rising. Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 10 feet, at which point flooding of low lying agricultural areas begins. The river is expected to fall below flood stage around 7 this evening.
