Knox Street Department Still Collecting Leaves

Leaf_rake_and_leavesThe City of Knox is still picking up leaves as resources allow. Mayor Rick Chambers says they will continue to do so until it snows. Leaves should be placed in a long row along the side of the street in front of homes so they can be vacuumed up easily. Don’t place them in alleys, and do not bag them. Branches and limbs should be separated so they can also be collected.Residents with leaves that need to be picked up can call the clerk-treasurer’s office at 574-772-3032 to make arrangements. The city will not pick up brush and other debris remaining from commercial tree removal jobs.

Leaves, grass and brush can also be dropped off at the city’s compost pile at the corner of Shield and Mound Streets. They should not be placed in containers.

The burning of leaves and other yard waste is not allowed within the Knox city limits.
