Knox Police Investigating Meth Lab Explosion, Two Arrested

Knox Police say two people are in custody after a meth lab exploded early this morning.

They were dispatched to an upstairs apartment at the corner of Main and Lake Streets just after midnight. The building was evacuated, but Knox Police say two adults and a child fled before officers and firefighters showed up.

Det. Dave Combs from the Knox Police Department says they got a search warrant for the property and found an active meth lab. The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called in to assist with the cleanup. The Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Knox Fire Department also responded. The names of the suspects have not yet been released. Combs adds two officers were taken to IU Health Starke Hospital for treatment of chemical burns.
