DNR, LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office Investigating After Body Found at Wildlife Area

Authorities in LaPorte County are investigating after a man’s body was found Friday at the Kingsbury Fish & Wildlife Area. Sheriff’s deputies and conservation officers responded Friday morning around 10 a.m. to the area of Tracy Road west of First Line Road.

Detectives and crime scene investigators from both agencies combed the area in an effort to figure out the circumstances surrounding the death and are waiting for results of an autopsy to determine the cause and manner as well as when death may have occurred. Foul play has not been ruled out, according to investigators.

The victim did not have identification. He’s described as being about 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He had long, brown hair that is believed to be dyed brownish red and was in a ponytail. There were tattoos on both his forearms as well as the name “Zachary” on his right upper arm. The man was wearing Wrangler blue jeans, a black Carhartt jacket with a hood and black and white Nike Air Max tennis shoes in new condition when his body was found.

Anyone who may know the victim or recognize his description is asked to call the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 219-326-7700, ext. 2404.
